P.T.Millington Collection, Letter dated 30th Dec.1991 and telephone call 4th Jan.1992

The letter reads;

"I write with regard to the piece in the Ripley & Heanor News about Guysers. My father used to tell me they went round on Boxing Day. I do remember a little bit about the Doctor, it goes like this. In comes I the Doctor! I'll cure the hitch the pitch the polsy the Gout, if there's nineteen devils in this man Ill cast twenty out. I hope this information will help just a little."

Further information was gained from a follow up telephone call. Mrs. Murphy's father's name was Sam Moore. He died when Mrs. Murphy was 80. She did not state her current age. He performed the play as a boy in Codnor Road, Loscoe, Derbys. They used to practice in a toilet, and on one occasion he fell down the toilet. In addition to the Doctor, the play also had the character King George.
