Entry to an essay competition on old village life at Kinoulton, Notts. It states; "On 'Plough Monday', boys wearing coloured paper hats used to come knocking on the doors saying, 'Please to remember the Plough Boys.' On 'Valentine's Day' the girls went round singing 'Good morning, Valentine, some comes at eight O'clock, some comes at nine'"
