Haddenham Mummers [Website]

We perform the traditional village mummers play as published in 1942 by Walter Rose in his book 'Good Neighbours'. The play was revived in 1976 and every year since then it has been performed in pubs in and around Haddenham on the days just before Christmas. After each performance money is collected for local good causes.

Stony Stratford Mummers [Website]

March Mummers

Description:

We were a folk play group based in March, Cambridgeshire and we performed a folk play in the town to raise money for local charities. Our play was one written by Mike Herring and performed by members of the Peterborough Folk Club in the winters of 1968 and 1969. The script included some words from an old play that was featured in a local newspaper in 1902.

Notes:

We performed the play in local pubs and other venues in the town from December 2011 until December 2022, and at the March town St George's Fayre each April. We have given over 70 performances, and raised over £2000 for local charities.

Midwinter Mummers

Description:

Our play is a quack doctor play, given to us 1989 by a man from the Whittlesea area, he was 92 at the time, and remembered doing it as a boy in the scouts and in the church youth group in the '20s and '30s. He said it was written down by his grandfather in the Black Bull pub in Whittlesea sometime in the 1880's.
